I’m so fortunate to be doing this work because I feel so passionate about it. I didn’t think I would struggle so much in the early days of motherhood. I found infant sleep very confusing and the pressures from society and all the myths out there perpetuated the anxiety I was already experiencing as a new mom. I couldn’t believe the types of things moms were being encouraged to do to ‘train’ babies to sleep… don’t pick up your baby… don’t nurse your baby to sleep… follow the eat play sleep routine so as not to create bad habits. It all felt so contrary to what my baby needed. I didn’t want to sleep train but I was also suffering in anxiety and sleep deprivation. Then I found Isla Grace, and Lauren’s work validated that in fact my baby was sleeping normally and that I could simply trust my baby and use my own intuition to guide me. This mindset was such a huge shift for me that I decided to get certified so I could help other moms. The content transformed my relationship with my son and empowered me as a new mom. The holistic nature of the Baby Led Sleep Approach aligns beautifully with my practice as an OT, where I look at the whole person. Your unique family dynamics, your mental health, your village of support, your baby’s health and any medical issues you’re working through, your relationship to your baby’s tears, etc. There are so many factors that affect sleep. Did you know that connection and attachment affect sleep too? I can help dissect your baby’s sleep and work with you to connect more deeply with your baby, to improve sleep and shift patterns gently, and be the mom you want to be to your baby, all without sleep training.
